Greetings Illustrated Faith Family!
When Shanna asked me to write a devotional for Revival Camp this winter, I said, “YES!” because I love writing, I love this community, and I love Jesus. A few weeks later, she emailed me my assignment, the word Commit. She said she prayed and God told her to give me that word. I knew exactly what HE wanted me to write. God just works that way. He lines up all the dots and says to His child, “step in to the water — all you have to do is one step at a time — but it’s time, go.”
I journaled two entries using this devotional. The first is the story in Joshua below and the second will post in September. Enjoy!
Let’s journal truth friends!

Gathering Supplies
Using the Illustrated Faith Fundamentals Paper as inspiration, I mixed a rainbow of watercolors.
In Joshua, the priests stepped into the water and the waters rolled back to become dry land. They committed and were obedient to God’s voice.
I wanted to illustrated the power of the waters moving out of the way.
But…who says water has to be blue?! Can you say, “colorful”?
I just started having fun, painting “waters” spraying up at out of the way so the people could cross over.
First color – Light Pink.
Bright Pink.
Orange.
Yellow.
Quick dry before I shift to the cool colors.
Green.
Blues.
When God moves obstacles out of the way, its because stars are about to shine for His glory – Amen? Let’s break into the trail mix pack and sprinkle some stars.
These babies are so cute!
I wanted to emphasize just taking one step at a time toward God’s call so I added the words “one step” with black alphas.
I used clear craft glue to adhere the stars down.
I started to play with the other pieces on the page and added some star stickers from the kit.
I stamped some triangles from the clear stamp set in the kit.
I also stamped the word “commit” but went right over a sparkly little star — bummer.
I decided I wanted to cover that up so I grabbed some more Illustrated Faith paper and punched out a butterfly. The butterfly has always been a symbol of obedience, freedom, and purpose to me.
More triangles.
Tab.
Using some Illustrated Faith Word Fetti.
I just glued down the cute little star clip. SO GOOD. I LOVE the little touches Shanna is adding to the kits.
I used handwriting to add the date, kit and a special note from me to Jesus.
This story in the Bible will forever be close to my heart.
Is Jesus calling you into the water? To take one step?
If He is, lay down everything and GO friends. Walking with Jesus always hold’s new beginnings and new opportunities to commit.
