Happy Monday, friends!! Grab your party hats, noisemakers and confetti poppers because we’re in for a celebration! In session one, prompt three of the Confetti devotional, April directs us to 1 Peter 1:3-5. She encourages us to jot it down and put it EVERYWHERE, letting it marinate over our heart. Let’s see what it’s all about!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5, NIV)
How fitting, Peter starts out with PRAISE! God is merciful. And because of His mercy we have been born again (the only way to see the Kingdom) into a living hope. A future hope. Not here while we’re exiles. And the One who secured it for us is seated at the right hand of God the Father. Get that confetti ready…
Our inheritance, the best gift ever!, is kept in heaven for us. Our inheritance (our salvation) cannot die, cannot spoil and cannot disappear. It is absolutely safe!
HOORAY, indeed! April notes what a precious and outrageous gift it is to receive. She reminds us that we are so completely unworthy, but it is poured out upon us all the same.
So let’s celebrate!! I created this page in my traveler’s notebook since the margins next to 1 Peter are all filled up in my bible :) First I layered the paper die cut pieces and stamped confetti all over the place. This is a party!! Confetti on confetti! I added the title sticker, my journaling and a date stamp. Super simple, very quick and focused on the amazingly generous gift our Father has given us at the expense of His one and only Son.
