To encourage the younger members of the Journaling Bible community, each month we will be taking a peek inside the Bible of Abigail Clone!  Abigail is an energetic, artistic, & faithful 15-year-old sweetie that loves illustrating her faith & sharing the Word with others! She will be sharing projects created around common struggles that teens encounter at school & in their daily lives. With this, we hope to encourage young girls (& boys!) to get into their Bibles & share the lessons from the Bible with their friends & family while expressing themselves artistically.

Are you in high school? Or do you remember high school? When I walk down the halls at my school, so many people are complaining about tests or unfair projects, and to be honest, I do it too. I think we have all found ourselves being ungrateful.

At my school, all of the freshmen have to meet with their counselors to figure out their four-year plan. While figuring out what classes I’m going to take and all the stress that is put on us while doing that, I realized that even though we complain, they are preparing us to have a life we are grateful for! Teachers, counselors, parents, grandparents, and (the most important!) GOD are preparing us. They all want us to have a job, a family, friends, an education, and so much more that make our lives AMAZING!

I reflected all of this on my Bible page. ;) What really inspired me to pick my verse was the saying, “In all things, give thanks.” I’ve always heard this and when I saw 1 Thessalonians 5:18, I knew it was perfect! It says:

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

On my page for the background, I actually used a technique that I’m in love with. I spread 2 colors of paint on a scrap piece of paper. Then I stuck the scrap to the page and just peeled it off slowly. It left a thin paint layer on the page that is perfect for layering on! Around the page are some of the element stamps in different colored inks. I also just added some of the leaves from the Brave and Strong online class. I actually just cut them out of one of the papers that comes with the kit, added the saying, “In all things, give thanks” in letter stickers and called it a page! This page definitely gets me in the fall and Thanksgiving spirit while reminding us that we need to be grateful for EVERYTHING as well as SHOW IT!

During this Thanksgiving season, remember how much everyone in your life has done for you, including school. I challenge you to go to a teacher or an adult that has really done a lot for you and make them a thank you card. Just tell them that you are grateful for them and all the things they have done for you. I think we all need to spread the words “thank you” more. Everyone needs to hear it more often and we all should start that! Show your gratitude, not just this month but all the time! Spread those “thank yous!!”

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

-Abigail
