To encourage the younger members of the Journaling Bible community, each month we will be taking a peek inside the Bible of Abigail Clone! Abigail is an energetic, artistic, & faithful 15-year-old sweetie that loves illustrating her faith & sharing the Word with others! She will be sharing projects created around common struggles that teens encounter at school & in their daily lives. With this, we hope to encourage young girls (& boys!) to get into their Bibles & share the lessons from the Bible with their friends & family while expressing themselves artistically.
Hey Sweets! It’s Abigail with my very first blog post & I’m so ready to jump into this page with you guys!
I can so relate to feeling overwhelmed. I just started high school last month & I don’t know about other high schools, but mine really wants us to get involved. Clubs & sports are good to put on your college resumes, but there is a lot of stress with joining a club. I have found three clubs that interest me, but that takes up half of my week! Ahhhhh! What about the time for homework, appointments, & other after school activities? I have felt like I just don’t have enough time in the week & that is when the anxiety kicks in. When am I going to fit this in, & when am I going to do that?
When I start catching myself doing that, I’ve learned to just stop & pray. I find myself worrying when I’m lying in bed right before I fall asleep. All I do is pray & ask God for His guidance. He has a plan for all of us so He can get us through this. When I went looking for a bible verse about praying, Psalm 107: 28-30 really stuck out to me. It says:
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, & He delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, & the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, & He brought them to their desired haven.”
This one really stuck out to me because feeling overwhelmed feels like there is a storm inside of you. It’s hard to be still & not worry. This verse tells us that God will calm that storm if we call to Him.
On my bible page, I answered the question I gave myself, how do I stop feeling overwhelmed? To me that answer is Just Stop & Pray.
I used a little piece of paper & some washi tape to add a flip tab. That is where I put my journaling. Then at the bottom I just stamped a little typewriter from the new Illustrated Faith Bright & Brave stamp set & wrote “Send it to God” on the blank paper because we should send our worries to God.
This is a simple page but it has a strong message. The next time any of you are feeling overwhelmed, whether it is lying in bed, or for all those teens out there- sitting in a high school classroom, just remember to Stop & PRAY.
