Elaine is inspired by the Illustrated Faith Print & Pray "Hungry" printables and taking a bite out of the Word | hybrid Bible journaling

I’m hungry… I could really go for a cinnamon raisin bagel… and a whole lot of scripture! So many people I know that have started illustrating their faith now say that they crave God’s word. What better thing to crave!? (And you don’t have to count calories– can I get an AMEN!?) The Print & Pray Shop has released a digital set that was created just for those moments when you’re starving for Jesus. The Hungry set was inspired by a particularly hungry caterpillar we all know & love from our childhoods! I couldn’t love it more! I get all the warm fuzzies from it because it takes me back to grade school learning to read. And now I’m using this inspiring art while reading my Bible. I love it when things come full circle!

This is one of those pages that just came together SO easily for me because it was a scripture that I really felt.

“Blessed are those that hunger & thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled,” Matthew 5:6, NIV.

If we as Christians continue to hunger for His word & live as He would have us live, He will fulfill us! He will satiate us! He will fill us with the nourishment we need! The days that we are ravenous to sit down with our bibles and fill it with paint & stamps & stickers are exactly the moments where God is like “Hope you’re hungry! Here’s a HUGE helping of worship for you! Clean your plate!”

As I was using the journal cards & printable elements, I decided to mimic the letter style of the “hungry” letters in the set. I was like: “YAY! Finally a use for all those magazines I’m pointlessly hoarding!” hahaha So I spelled out my little “#nomnomnom” title in magazine letters. I cut my apple out of one of the sets journal cards. (Don’t forget that there are so many other ways you can use the elements from these sets other than their “intended use.” If it can be cut up & pasted down, do it!) If you’ve read the children’s book this is based on, you’ll probably remember that all the fruits in the book have a hole in the middle from where the caterpillar ate his way through. So I used my 1″ circle punch to recreate that idea!

Annnnnnnd then I used a scalloped circle punch to punch a little “bite” out of the Bible page itself! To accentuate the bite, I inked the edge of the page with some black Staz-on. So it looks like I have literally been munching on  the scripture. I feel like the Big Guy has a smashing of humor. ;)

I can’t wait to see what all you Hungry Little Christians do with the new Hungry set! I love inspiring each other with our art! Don’t forget to tag your posts using Illustrated Faith printables with #printprayshop so we can see your incredible creations! Ok, now I’m off to get that bagel. ;)
