The promise in Romans 8:28 has been a heart lifeline for me lately. I am clinging to the two words “all things.” All means the beautiful and the hard, the messy and the surprising, the wonderful and the frustrating, the joy and the grief. Being human is just hard sometimes. I am comforted by the knowledge that Jesus knows our human-ness intimately and still chooses to reveal Himself to us, still loves us and refuses to leave us. Whatever part of life I am going through, Jesus understands. I am choosing gladness and practicing taking notice of both sides of “all things.” Funny oranges that make me smile amidst hard news about someone I love, preschool artwork that surfaced from many years ago causing me to remember what a wonderful/terrible stage that was and finding encouragement from a 14 year old paper plate rainbow, quotes that consistently encourage me even when the sky of my soul is overcast, and some flowers that were a gift that remind me of the wonderful people God has given me. I hope you find encouragement in seeking “all things” in your life, as you wade through all of the messiness of being a human.
