Experiencing God: Listen

After the chaotic joy-stress-fun-anxiety-all-together-ever-so-much of the Christmas season, Brianna feels like her soul takes a deep breath, holds it in for a moment, and exhales, making room for something more. January brings with it an invitation to pause, to be still, and to listen. There is not as much commercialism fighting for our attention, not quite so many things on our want-to-do lists, and so there is a sliver of space and time within our lives. God is not confined to speaking through dreams, or scripture, or pastors. He leaves His fingerprints all over our lives. The people we encounter in the supermarket, the sunsets we see while stuck in traffic, the touch of small hands, the stories our elders share. The Bible says that God is limitless, so shouldn’t it follow that His ways of communicating are limitless as well?

 But what would happen if we set out to experience God? In our daily lives, in our existing relationships, with the job, schedule and commitments we currently have? What if we put on God glasses to see His presence in our lives?
