I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:1-2 (NIV)
Happy Monday! Today I am sharing a bible journaling process video in Psalm 18, David’s “fight song”, using the Old Testament Revival Camp devotional kit. In her devotional, Taylor points us to the amazing story in 2 Chronicles 20 where we see King Jehoshaphat and the army of Judah up against a fierce army. Instead of putting soldiers on the frontlines, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and praise Him as they went out (2 Chron. 20: 21). As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against their enemies and their enemies were defeated. It is an amazing story and I hope you will go check it out!
In her devotional Taylor says, “just as in Jehoshaphat’s day, worship is a mighty weapon against fear”. That is certainly something I have seen played out in my own life and I wanted to document that in my journaling bible. You see, there was a time when I lived in a cycle of fear which lead to anxiety which physically affected my body, which then lead to more fear and anxiety. Needless to say, it was a rough season. There are still times when I see the beginning of this cycle emerge. And, with God’s Spirit, I am able to discern when this happens and speak truth into those feelings.
When I lift my eyes to the One in control of every situation, and remember who He is and what He is like I begin to say, out loud, these truths to myself. That quickly turns in to a worship sesh, just like here on my page.
I certainly took Taylor up on her invitation to journal our own personal “fight song”. I think this is a good representation of when we say it’s not about the final page, but the process. While this page is more busy than my personal style, it marks a joyful thirty minutes of creative time worshipping the One who reigns from A to Z!
