Sweet summertime. I don’t know about you, but I’m typically a winter girl. I decorate for fall in August, I listen to Christmas music in October, and I keep my tree up until February. I was never an outdoorsy type unless it was for a quick dip in the pool. The Texas heat keeps me in the A/C most of the time, but this year I have great company! Illustrated Faith launched their online workshop Revival Camp, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Each week for twelve weeks, Illustrated Faith will release a new devotional on a new topic in the study, and you’ll snag twelve “merit badges” in all. I’m thinking a Girl Scout-esque sash is in my future ;)

The first week was “Ignite” and it was all about finding your passion, digging into Nehemiah 1. One of the things I’m passionate about is encouraging others to own (celebrate and be confident in) their calling, no matter how unique or different it may feel. It took me a long time to be confident telling people that I am an actor and a director, but it has definitely been all the Lord’s doing! So, side note here, keep rockin’ it where He’s told you to roll. Even if no one else is doing it.

And for those of you who may not yet know your calling or are questioning His purpose, hang tight! Lean in! Be faithful where you are and trust the Lord to lead the way.  Like the devo said, “We never know what the catalyst to our calling will be.”

Take Nehemiah for example. We don’t learn this until later in the chapter, but he was the cupbearer to King Artaxerxes. But what is he known for? Rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem. His heart broke for the people whose wall and well being lay in ruin, and God gave him favor and used him in a mighty way.

At the top of my Revival Field Guide I put “be open hearted.” The phrase kept coming back to me after reading the verses, and I wanted to remind myself to be aware of what is happening around me and to say yes when the Lord stirs my heart about something.

I encourage you, sweet friends, to do the same. It just might change your life.
