Today I particularly want to welcome all the newcomers to Illustrated Faith and those who are geared up to facing the new year by cracking open their journals and journaling bibles for the very first time. It can be a daunting prospect with all those fresh white pages looking back at you inviting you to fill them, can’t it? Perhaps you’re wondering where to start or even how to start? Perhaps you’ve browsed this blog, (and Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest!) and you’ve seen all the beautiful pages, but instead of being inspired you’re now intimidated because you can’t imagine how yours will ever compare?
In my video today I’m sharing a little bit about my own humble beginnings in bible-journaling and some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I’ll share my thoughts on how to focus your efforts on pleasing God rather than being worried about how other people will judge your creative attempts, and how to embrace your own individual style. It reminds me of the catchphrase about “being a flamingo in a flock of pigeons” and making sure you remain true to who God has called you to be. But most of all I just want to encourage you that if you’re curious about wanting to journal in your bible, then the best place to start is simply to start.

Natalie,
Well said and an encouraging post!
Off to watch the video :)
I guess it’s something that I constantly have on my heart… so it naturally pours out :-)

You bless me with every post. To me you are the best kind of God artist–one after His heart!
Thank you my dear! That’s so encouraging.
