mixed media art journaling Bible tutorial: simple inspiration | taking inspiration from a sticker to create a mixed media background by Heather Greenwood

Today Shanna’s new book, 10 Ways To Fall In Love With Your Bible and Stay In Love, is released and the creative team got it ahead of time to read. I have a true confession: I’m totally convicted (in a good way) in the first chapter already!!! I make excuses all the time. It’s not that I don’t read my Bible every day, it’s that I make excuses about Bible journaling it. The truth is… It’s totally a dumb excuse considering it doesn’t have to be this long and elaborate process and generally only takes 15-20 minutes. It gets put aside to do later, and then I never get to it. I could easily wake up 30 minutes earlier and do it… Then comes the weekend and I’m like overwhelmed because I finally sit down to do some creative art worship but I have a million entries I want to do to catch up. AHHHHH!!!!

So here’s the deal… it doesn’t take long, so I’m no longer going to make excuses for not taking the extra 15 minutes each day to do some art worship. I’m going to show you an easy technique that only took 10 minutes to do and where I found the inspiration.

Inspiration number 1:

I found this really cute heart and loved the stripes with the blue scallops and decided to recreate that on my page.

Inspiration number 2:

I found a cute paper piece that had a scripture prompt on the back to help me find the perfect scripture verse for what I wanted to do… BINGO, that was easy!

add the paper piece that coordinates with the scripture, the blue scallop stickers, alpha stickers, tabbies, and additional fun stickers… then add your journaling, doodles, outlining, and highlighting the scripture reference.
