Happy spring/almost summer/maybe still sorta winter depending on where you live, friends! The weather across the nations lately has been so incredibly bizarre & completely unpredictable lately…. Here in the deep south of Georgia, we’ve had non-stop rain & I never know if I’ll need a sweater or flip flops from day to day hah!
All of this crazy, erratic weather has me hankering for some sunny rainbow-filled days, how about you? While I can’t control the outside weather, I can totally dig in deep to God’s faithful promises of rainbows in the Word!
Genesis 9:17 spells out God’s promise to Noah [and ultimately us] saying that the rainbow He placed in the sky after the great flood “…. is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.” I love that something so beautiful & so vibrantly colorful is what God chose to symbolize His faithfulness, His healing & His promise to us! #rainbowtizeallthethings #itstartedwithGod
I pulled out a handful of my favorite paint pots from Target & grabbed a roll of bubble wrap that I keep stashed away for creative purposes…. because I mean, what else is bubble wrap for, right?! ;)
After trimming a sliver of bubble wrap down to margin size, I was ready to get messy! Except…. not really. Because this is a fairly clean project & you can thank me for it later ;)
Without much rhyme or reason to how many bubble “lines” I painted with each color, I got busy. With just a small dip of the paintbrush in each pot [going in rainbow order helps…. even if you get the red + pink mixed up…. oops!], I gently brushed colors down on top of the raised side of the bubble wrap. A little overlapping is totally fine as it will all blend into one fab rainbow in the end!
My one main tip for this technique is to GENTLY brush the color on to the bubble wrap. You’ll have a much cleaner outcome in your margin if you only put paint on the raised portions of the bubbles…. You’ll see a more smeared effect by pressing down harder & getting color globbed in between the bubbles.
Gently flip your bubble wrap over so the painted side of the bubbles are laying on your margin — press, peel & admire!!! YEOWZA! Hello rainbow goodness!
Now fancy up that margin, friends!! I pulled out some of my Illustrated Faith Basics goodies for a page title & a little rainbowtized alpha sentiment, then added a layered tab section at the top [because #necessary] and then added in some good ol’ fashioned prayer journaling to my page.
No matter what the weather may look like outside your own window today, friends — whether you’re hunkered down battling out the storms or your lounging outside soaking up the sun — God’s color-filled promise is applicable & available to each of us. Lift up your eyes, because He is so incredibly faithful through it all!
