Happy New Year, friends! I hope these first few weeks of 2019 have treated you well. And, if like me, you’re not quite ready for goal-setting and list-making, that’s ok too!
One pretty cool thing that’s happened so far is the release of a brand new devotional kit from Illustrated Faith-YAY! Mark Maker is all about documenting the marks that God has placed on your testimony and praising Him in the process. I love, love, LOVE this idea because before I can move forward into a new year, I like to look back at how He has been present in the last one.
I enjoy poring over my quiet time journals from the previous year and tracing His hand at work in my life. What truths did He reveal to me as I dug into His word? What areas of my heart did he refine to look more like Christ? What were those God winks that are a reminder of His love for me?
For my first journaling bible entry with the new kit I just wanted to sit and marvel at Him. At how He’s been faithful. How He’s been present. And in my case, how He’s been patient. I did so in Psalm 66:16,
“Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.” (NIV)
I used an assortment of alphabet stickers, the physical kit’s die cut pieces and bits from Shanna’s digital elements in Mark My Heart to create my title. Then I used the kit’s stamp set to make marks around the page, topped those spots with more die cuts, added a tab and wrote my journaling. Pretty simple!
As I wrapped up my page I wondered if this could have been what Peter meant when he wrote in 1 Peter 3:15,
“…Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…”
Reflecting on how we’ve seen His hand in our lives helps us prepare to share our testimony with others. Tell them about all He has done for you! Join us as we document those marks He’s left on our hearts.
