Do you ever have one of those mornings where God is trying to talk to you and you’re so busy that you’re not hearing Him? God’s been telling me to get out of this funk for awhile and get back to the me He created me to be. I’m a huge fan of personal and professional development books and a friend has been trying to get me to read Lysa Terkeurst’s book, Made to Crave. I adore Lysa and I feel like she’s always talking directly to me. This book is about craving God more than food or whatever your vice is. As a foodie, I’ve been really obsessed with food and the nutritional value it is. It’s become an unhealthy obsession and become a major source of focus. Last year, I lost 30lbs and keeping it off and watching my diet has become something I never wanted it to become, a major source of my focus. So when my friend recommended this book, I knew this was something I needed to read. I’d been ignoring it for a long time, but something made me pick it up to start reading.
Then she hit me with a quote, “I was made for more than this!” WHOA GOD!!! This is the scripture that gave her that phrase.

Ok, so I come downstairs after finishing up the chapter and start to get my breakfast made… and on K-LOVE I semi-hear Danny Gokey talking about his new song RISE… I vaguely hear him talking about a time of depression and my ears perk up. I then do a google search of the song to listen to it.
But something inside you can’t deny

OK God, I’m hearing you loud and clear now. It’s time to get out of this funk, this unhealthy obsession with my health (that just sounds silly), this darkness… and RISE and SHINE, because I was made for more!!!
Did you know that you’re made for more too? When I constantly tell myself this, I start to make wise choices in my day. Instead of moping around, I’m enjoying my life again. I’m wanting to spend more time in prayer and meditation with God. I’m wanting to get to know God more and make Him known. I don’t know why it took me so long to listen to God knocking on the door… more like pounding on it saying, “Let me in, Let me give you a great big hug!” It feels good to own this depression and health obsession. It feels good knowing that I will never be truly healthy by anything I try to do on my own, but only with the help of God.
I know it’s not going to be this snap and I’m out of it and all is well again… but I know with the help of my Dr and spending more time in the Word and prayer and meditation with God, it will be so much easier to get back to the girl I was made to be. I also know that like so many in the Bible, God is going to use this brokenness for something so much bigger than I can imagine. I’m reminded that God used the broken to show his grace and mercy and power and love, so many times in the Bible. I can’t wait to see how he uses me through my brokenness. How great it is to be loved by such an awesome God who never left my side despite me trying to fight my own battles by myself.
YOU ARE MADE FOR MORE, SO RISE!!! LET THAT LIGHT SHINE!!!
