7.3 billion. Let that number sink in. 7.3 billion. It’s incomprehensible to me. I can picture 100 thousand. I can stretch to a couple million. But billions? That blows my mind. When reading the How He Loves Us devotional by Stephanie Buice, I was stopped in my track by this number. On day six, she writes about how God sees us in the middle of the 7.3 billion people in the world. He knows us by name, hears our hearts, and desires to spend time with us.
Two words: WOAH BABY.
She points us to Luke 12:7 which says, “Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
I have to admit, sometimes I feel like I get lost in the crowd. I start to wonder, why should He listen to MY prayers or worry about MY problems? But those questions come from comparison, when I take my eyes off of Him and out of His word and start looking around in the world. The world says you have to fight to be heard and to claim your place, but He has given it to us freely. He has reached out his hand to us gladly. He is with us and for us willingly.
It’s that simple.
What makes God a good Father? How He loves us.
How does it make you feel to be His one in 7.3 billion? Absolutely blessed and blown out of the water.
