Hello, friends! Advent season is upon us and this year my personal goal is to truly bequest my heart to focus on God. This time of year is hard for so many — whether it be loss or hardship or what have you. My prayer is that my own heart & mind would be focused on Christ, and not what human wants I may or may not be receiving right now. After all, He is the only true reason for this season — amen?!
I’m digging in to Philippians 3:20 with y’all today, which says this:
They are focused on earthly things, 20 but our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.
I knew right away that this wood block stamp from the Illustrated Faith Advent collection would be the perfect addition to my margin, so I created my page around this piece as my focal point. In keeping with my advent goal of focusing on Jesus above all, I also wanted to keep this page super simple — less art, more Jesus. But also…. some art ;) Because that’s how this community is called to worship, right?!
I laid down some quick swipes of acrylic paint colors and inked up my wood block stamp to get started. I filled in a large-ish portion of my margin with this stamp because I wanted it to POP up off the page at me when I come back to peek at past Bible entries. I love how many times I was able to stamp across in these extra wide margins! YEOWZA!
Next, I grabbed just a few pieces from the Advent paper pieces — coffee mugs are always a YES & AMEN kind of thing for me! #coffeeismylovelanguage…. I also love the sentiment on that pink cup & it goes right along with my focus for advent! Just give me all the Jesus on repeat, please & thank you!
I attached my cute little mugs together & also pulled an “Advent” tabbie piece from the ephemera package to staple along the top of my Bible page for a sweet, yet simple tab section.
I outlined my focus verse, because I want to know exactly what my heart was praying & dwelling on when I come back at a later date. A scribbled prayer, a date stamp & a few little black heart stickers later…. My first advent page is complete!
I’ll be praying this page & this sentiment over myself this advent season, and I would love to pray it over you as well, friends. Don’t feel distraught over needing to have or use #allthesuppliesever — all we need is a pen + a scrap of paper to create something beautiful in art worship of our Savior.
Will you join with me this year as we celebrate Christ & focus on the true reason why we create in our margins? xo

I’m new to bible journaling and after watching videos, have started journaling in the Grace and Gratitude book, which I love. Also am planning to journal in a TN insert for Advent. I love both the Grace/Gratitude and Advent kits I got from Amazon UK. I am a Californian living in Scotland, so I’m grateful you have printables!! I like stickers because They make it easier to focus on scripture and not the art. Maybe I’m just chicken about the art:) I love his blog entry:)
Correction on my comment: I mean I love THIS blog entry.
Correction : fix the typo to say “this” not “his”
