For those that have been following me for a couple months you know this year started off rough. I took some time away from my online commitments and really took the time to focus on family. During that time, I am not going to lie I struggled with God. My mother in law suggested (ever so slightly) that I listen to a sermon from Doug Fields at Saddleback church. The name of the sermon was “have I got a surprise for you” and I LOVED it. I think sometimes it is difficult for church leaders to share where they struggle and they do in fact struggle with the exact same things we stuggle with. Doug did just that, in such a HUMAN way. I love that. The sermon was great, and I highly suggest listening to it yourself but my favorite part was when he talked about “putting it in the cup”. He talks about how we pray to God, and then we worry. When we really need to hand it all over to God and trust him with our desperate prayers. Of course worrying is natural human process… but allowing God to work in your life is a learning process (and sometimes harder than others). It was certainly something I PERSONALLY needed (need) to work on in this season of my life.
I wanted to share my start to finish process for this week in my journaling bible.
Lindsay Letters designs some of the cutest stamps for Studio Calico so I pulled those out as I love how they look when stamped in my bible. I also saw this adorable cup sticker that was perfect for the sentiment “put it in the cup”.
I love seeing how everyone is adding mist (I used Mister Huey’s) to their pages and wanted to add a little unexpected color to my pages today. In this photo it is still drying but I wanted to show you all to NOT be afraid to get messy in your bibles! I just sprayed it on there and once it is dry and you close the book the page is still in perfect condition!
Yay for color mists right? I love your pages.. and I’ll admit.. a tad bit envious of all your supplies and stamps etc.. sighs… I have a bunch.. but don’t hv a lot of the latest and greatest like some of you have.. I’m gonna have to start digging into my stamp stash to see what I’ll wanna use… I love love that LOVE THIS stamp with the arrow and the BE BRAVE STAMP… beautiful page!
you certainly don’t need anything NEW or exciting YOU ARE ALREADY rocking the products you have LADY!!! You are such an inspiration!
Another gorgeous and meaningful page! Love every bit. Thanks for sharing your process and the sermon link. Blessings,
Thank you!!! Thank you for sharing as well, you are amazing!
Beautiful and yay for misting. I got brave tonight but this really makes me nervous. LOL
And hugs to you. Had no idea. So glad you listened to the sermon. It was the right time.
TFS!!
xoxox thank you sweetie!!! I can’t wait to see YOU’VE GOT THIS!
Hello! I found your site today through the post the Patter wrote about her bible band for her journaling bible. I had never heard of the concept and came over to read your post about it. I would very much like to try this myself. I went to Amazon to look for the bible mentioned and I found the original 2 column as well as a newer, revised version that has only one column of verse per page. I am wondering which to purchase so as to allow the most room for journaling and hoping you can give me some direction?
Also, you mention that Studio Calico makes a Project Life pen that is your favorite journaling pen. I do not have that pen and am wondering if there are any others that you might suggest that I may already own or have easier access to purchasing that won’t bleed through these pages? I saw that you watercolored and used spray mists on your bible, did it bleed through to the other side?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide,
Maureen
Marueen I really haven’t had troubles with any pens (although I have yet to try anything such as a highlighter) I would just say try your favorite pen in general!!! :) I haven’t had any issues with actual bleeding, now if you lift up the page and look on the bac you can see through the page so you can see the paint but you can also see the words from the bible on the back side on the page (does that make sense?) They are thin pages but I am amazed at what they will hold up to!! :)
So pretty! I just finished watching the course from Influence, got my bible… can’t wait to get started!!!
I hope you will share Meg, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Shanna, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your bible with us and your process for journaling. I have been so inspired to reconnect with the Word and to spend some time listening to the message and reconnecting my faith with my heart. I haven’t yet done any of my own journaling, but it is something I look forward to starting. I just wanted to let you know that I am loving this feature in your blog and encourage you to keep going.
This… this! It was absolutely prophetic that I found this today in the SC gallery. I followed links. I searched and pinned on Pinterest. This makes my doodling heart so very, very happy; I had no idea this was even a thing! :) Thank you, Shanna. Thank you so very much for sharing this art and inspiration. I am a follower now!! Blessings!
Where can I find the be brave stamp? I love it!
