Happy Monday, friends! This week I took a trip back to ninth grade biology as I journaled with Brianna Showalter’s Print & Pray set Roots. I mean, I’m no botanist, so it was helpful to take a quick look at how roots function. Friends, armed with that little piece of info, these passages became all the more rich!
I journaled this page next to Colossians 2:6-7 which says,
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (NIV)
Roots are a source of life and strength. In plants they function as a means of anchorage and support. Here Paul says, if Jesus is our Lord (my pastor says the lord of our lives in the one in the driver seat), we should continue to follow him, being rooted in him (drawing nourishment from him). Built up in him- think of Jesus’ parable of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7.
How cute is this little house Brianna painted, tucked into this beautiful growth?! I printed this set on both clear sticker paper and white card stock. To make the title rooted in Christ “pop” off the terrarium sticker, I brushed the edges with Distress Ink using a mini ink blending tool.
I added my journaling, highlighting what stood out to me, and stamped art marks around the page. I even created a custom tab for the top by running one of Brianna’s beautiful terrariums through my We R Memory Keepers tab punch. Super simple!
This set is so beautiful! Brianna’s titles and illustrations can be used in so many places throughout God’s word. I can’t wait to make my next page!
