Tawni is sharing with us why it's important to share our faith and how we are illustrating our faith and skipping around the Illustrated Faith Created to Create devotional in her Journaling Bible

When I got my hands on the Created To Create kit, the first thing I did — after photo documentation, of course — was to read through some of Shanna’s devotional. You guys. WOW. Through the devotional, God spoke right to my heart, right where I was, and all of my whys came flooding back to me: why I feel so close to God when I worship through creativity, why I find such joy in illustrating my faith, and why I share my work and the words God puts on my heart.

I chose to work backwards through the devotional. Actually, I’m kind of jumping from page to page without any clear direction, but the first page I studied and illustrated was the second-to-last page, titled “Share It,” on Mark 16:15.

And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Mark 16:15 NASB

Illustrating my faith and then sharing the words God puts on my heart through blogging and social media has made it possible for me to fulfill a bit of my part of the Great Commission from right where I am, wherever I am. (Even from my couch, on the subway, while I’m waiting for a pot to boil or am in line at the grocery store, etc.) No matter where I am or what I’m doing, at any moment God could put a word on my heart or an idea in my head and I’m able to make note of it in a journal or an app, and may even share it on social media right at that very moment. Even if only one person sees my post and is impacted or encouraged by it, that’s one person more than if I’d kept it to myself.

I have been reading, writing, and illustrating my way through the New Testament, and after each chapter I have received some sort of revelation (big or small, fresh or gentle reminder) from God, and am able to journal in my bible as reflection, and then write and publish an entire, thought-out and prayed-about message on my blog, sharing exactly what God spoke to me through scripture. And let me tell you — it’s amazing what good it does for me and my heart when I share my faith, which I believe is another reason to share!

When you share your heart, not only are other people being impacted and touched by your testimony, but you also become more courageous and may experience an increase in your own faith!

If I didn’t believe in the power of testimony, I would not be writing this right now. If I myself hadn’t been so affected by other people’s artwork and stories, I would never have been brave enough or felt worthy enough to share my own.

100% believe that God created each of us to create, on some level. We’ve been made in His image, after all! Even if you feel like you’re not as skilled or gifted as someone else in a particular area, you have it in you to make something that glorifies your Maker.

So make it! And then share it!

You may not feel led to a mission field. You may not even feel led to leave your own county. But that doesn’t mean that you haven’t been called to proclaim the gospel to the whole creation, it just means that you get to do it from the place you love the most: HOME. Whether it’s through blogging and social media or through a coffee date or small group… however it may be, you are walking in your purpose when you’re sharing your heart.
