Natalie shares a process video showing some fun techniques such as how to get a giant title into your journaling bible, as well as a masking and painting tip to create colourful journaling lines

Did anyone else used to sing that song in Sunday School, “my God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do!” along with all the muscle-posing actions?! It seemed easy to imagine our big powerful God sitting on top of the world, doling out miracle after miracle and loving on His people. But somewhere along the line it feels like my faith has become weaker, and I allowed doubt to creep in. It’s not so much that I doubt that God can do something, it was more a question of whether God will do something.

I needed to increase my expectations again.

Do you know the best way to build up your faith? Romans 10:17 says, “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ”. The more time I spent reading the Word the more I come to understand what God’s will actually is, and this strengthens my faith.

Two people who seemed to confidently know God’s will were Jairus and the woman with the issue of blood – both written about in Mark 5. They each had need of a great healing miracle in their lives and they knew exactly who to turn to. But what I find most remarkable about their story is their expectations. Jairus states, “come and lay hands on my daughter so that she may be well and live”, and the bleeding woman says, “if I just touch Him I will be made well”. They didn’t come to Jesus timidly pleading “if it is your will, could you possibly do something to help the health issues I’m facing?” They confidently knew two things; the first was that Jesus had the ability to heal them, and the second was the assumption that he would heal them.

We must come to God with great expectations – after all, He is the creator of the universe and the lover of our souls. There really is nothing that’s impossible for Him! Instead of praying “if it is your will” let’s pray “I know your will is (insert one of God’s many promises here), so let it be done” Who’s with me?!

In my video today I’m going to take you through the process of creating my entry into Mark 5. I’ll show you how to create a big bold title that still allows you to read the text underneath, as well as a fun masking technique to create a striped pattern that’s great to use as journaling lines in your margin.
