hybrid digital printable Bible journaling entry by Cristin Howell | Gratitude Documented Day 2 | Reading [Nehemiah 8:8]

Raise your hand if you’re enjoying Gratitude Documented! (raises hand) Hi friends! This is Cristin, and I’m sharing my Day 2 entry for Gratitude Documented. I’ve been anticipating this special time of year where we get to thank God for all he has done! If you’re participating this month, awesome! If you haven’t started, please feel free to jump in right where you are! I’m using the Day 2 scripture prompt from the free printable sheet found in the Illustrated Faith Print & Pray Shop. There’s a link for the set at the end of this post.

Today’s scripture comes from Nehemiah:

“They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.” Nehemiah 8:8 ESV

I love verse 6, so I’ll share it here, also:

“And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, ‘Amen, Amen,’ lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.” Nehemiah 8:6 ESV

There’s so much richness to this story involving God’s mercy and grace, and it speaks to my heart. Here God’s people are hearing the Book of the Law, and it was an occasion to celebrate! I love how it’s plainly stated in verse 8 that the Law was read and explained so that everyone understood what was being read.

I’m so thankful for God’s Word, and it’s availability to me 24/7. I can read it on my phone (my preferred method!), in one of the many bibles I own, and I can even listen to the bible by having my bible app read it to me! I can pray and ask God to give me wisdom and understanding, so that I might know Him better.

And that’s what I’ve done here. On my page for today’s entry, I wrote a prayer in the margin expressing this desire that as I read God’s word, that I might gain understanding. I also tucked in a card from this month’s Gratitude kit from Dayspring. I used it to include more journaling, expressing my thankfulness for all the ways I can read the Word! (Note: I had the holes punched in the side of the card, so that it would fit into the binding. The cards normally come without holes.)

Thank you for reading my post today, and I hope you’ll join in with Gratitude Documented this month! I love this special time where we get to express our thankfulness for all He has done for us! <3, Cristin

Love this! Did you make your spiral bound Bible yourself? Thank you for sharing.

Yes, I was going to ask about the spiral bound Bible too. It looks so lovely. :-)

I am interested in the spiral bound Bible and how exactly you add to it? I understand you punched holes in the card, but how do you attach it to the spiral bound Bible.
