The new Illustrated Faith devotional and coordinating stamp set, We are Brave & Free, arrived not too long ago and I couldn’t wait to dive in and see what it had to say. To be completely honest, I’ve always been a little bothered to say how brave I am, because really I’m not all that brave and sometimes feel inadequate, and after reading about Moses in Exodus 3 and 4, I knew I wasn’t alone in that feeling!
I started in my Bible by coloring repeated words and phrases with colored pencils in Exodus 3 and 4. The thing that stood out to me most as I did this was that I need to BELIEVE that God is who He says He is! I call myself a “believer” but do I REALLY believe?
I wanted to include the word brave from the stamp set, but I didn’t want it to go vertically on my page, so I cut the letters apart and stamped them one at a time horizontally. It’s ok to cut the stamps and make them your own! I also used a little corner torn from a vintage book that I’d saved. I love how it pictures an open door with a storm outside. It was the perfect picture for my thoughts.
I built the rest of my page from there, adding washi tape behind GOD so His name would stand out more. I made a mistake behind the little label after the word HE, but you’d never know now! It looks like it was meant to be that way.
I AM brave – I can do what God asks me to do ONLY because He is who He says He is, and I believe it! All through the verses I marked where God repeatedly tells Moses how He would help him do what God asked him to do. Moses said, “Who am I?” but it didn’t really matter who he was, it mattered who God IS! I really needed this truth today – I hope it’s an encouragement to you!

such a great page! Thanks for sharing ! I love it
Beautiful and insightful as always, Debby! Thank you for being brave enough! :)
Love this! That little book corner is fantastic! A perfect example of how God has a handle on ALL of our life, and can use even those little things to speak to us, if we ‘have ears to hear’.
One thing I like about acrylic stamps is that you can see where you are stamping, so technically, one could still stamp something like your ‘brave’ horizontallly, even without cutting the stamp apart. Especially since you still stamped one letter at a time.
that’s what I did Elizabeth. I just covered the letters with washi tape as i stamped along, that way i didn’t have to cut the stamp.
What did we ever do without washi?? lol
