Happy Monday, friends! It’s a new day, a new week and I’m journaling from the new devotional kit, Only One You! I was so excited to jump right in- I chose the journaling card for Isaiah 46:4, but after reading the surrounding verses in Isaiah 46, verse 5 really jumped out at me. God says,
“With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?”
Remember, there is no right or wrong way to bible journal. After all, it’s all about listening to what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you heart. I thought a great way, for me, to kick off a kit called Only One You is to open with a beautiful worship sesh declaring (with stamp and ink) there is no one like our God!
I put some music on, pulled out the kit contents, some coordinating Faber-Castell brush pens and alpha stickers. And stared at a blank bible page. I know this happens to so many of us and I wanted to share how I pushed through it.
I realized early on that my biggest concern was putting something in the “wrong” spot. But friend, there is nothing a little white paint can’t cover! Even if you drop your ink pad, have a runaway pen, or worse, sneeze coffee all over your page- white acrylic paint will come to your rescue. (Trust me, because all of those things have happened to yours truly.) I then focused on the three elements I knew I wanted to include in my entry- a title, journaling and some die cut paper pieces. Once I knew where those things were going to live it became easier to pull the rest of the page together.
Most importantly, remember that putting pen, paint and stickers in our bible is a way to document our faith journey, not have a bible filled with “perfect” pages. Once we relinquish that expectation it makes the process more enjoyable and worshipful! This week I hope you will make a date with the Lord, throwing perfection to the wind, and getting acquainted with Him in His word. <3
