Happy Monday, friends! I am SO excited about today’s bible journaling process video! I’m using Brave Little Taylor’s Print & Pray devotional set Closer Than Ever. In it, Taylor shows us what the Tabernacle, described in the book of Exodus, reveals to us about the gospel.
Since she first has us look to Exodus and Leviticus to see how the Tabernacle, or “tent of meeting” is set up, I chose to create this page in Exodus 37. I love having “matching” bible journaling pages, where one points to the other and they’re both made using similar supplies. (It’s these types of silly things that make my nerdy heart swell :)
I don’t know about you, buy my eyes start to glaze over when I read things like the building and interior specifications of the Tabernacle. Taylor illustrates them for us, making it easier to picture what it looked like. She also points out the similarities between the tent and how Heaven is described in the bible. And how Christ is represented in the Tabernacle.
Taylor then points us to the New Testament to show us how Jesus ushered in the New Covenant, making annual sacrifices for sin no longer necessary. I chose to create this page in Hebrews 10:19-22 where the author writes,
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” (NIV)
WOW.
I love how this page, with all the wordfetti and stickers and printables, (inadvertently) reads from top to bottom: because Jesus, a new living way, yes! draw near, closer than ever.
Because of Jesus’ perfect and permanent sacrifice there is no longer any obstacle to the presence of God. Taylor writes, when we follow Jesus, we place our faith in His blood to cleanse and justify us before God….because of Christ, we have bold access to God–not only for the someday of Heaven, but for right now.
[insert praise hands here!] Thank you, Jesus!
