Over the Summer, we’ve been attending a study on Grace at our church. And after 7 weeks so far, Grace is still something that is really hard to wrap my head around. I really like the way our Pastor defined Grace…receiving what we don’t deserve. One of the examples he has used that stuck out for me, is that if we asked God for just a crumb and He invited us to sit down at the table and join Him for a feast, that would be Grace.
I think one of the reasons the concept of Grace is so hard to grasp, is because there are no strings attached. In today’s world, we’re always bombarded with the reminder, that nothing is free. Usually if someone gives us something, we feel the need to return the favor…whether it’s because we feel like they have an ulterior motive and expect something in return or because we don’t want to feel indebted to someone.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” It doesn’t get any better than receiving a gift from God! He wants us to accept His Grace, with no strings attached, and in return share that Grace with those around us. Because if we have received His Grace, how can we not show it to others.

It is extremely difficult to understand Grace. I am still trying even with the illustrations you gave. It’s beautiful.
Thank you.

Beautiful!!
Another great definition of grace is “to be very special to someone without doing anything to earn it.” Imagine new parents’ absolute delight in their infant. The baby doesn’t pull his weight; as a matter of fact, he makes life much more difficult, yet he is the center of attention and the source of joy. THAT is grace; that is how He sees us!!
Beautiful words, beautiful layout. How did you create the painterly splotches? I’m trying to recreate and can’t quite manage it.
