Artist Project: Proverbs 24 with Allie Trumpower

I’ve been traveling a lot the past two months– which is both exciting, overwhelming, and exhausting.  I love exploring new places, trying new things, and checking things off of my bucket list… but sometimes I just crave the simple comforts of home.  When the theme for this month’s Print and Pray Shop contributions was revealed (Happy Place) — I knew I had to do something about my “happy place”–  my home and the things and people I surround myself with there.

The excitement of traveling and the joy of coming back to the comforts of home really got me thinking about how both EXCITING and COMFORTING living in eternity with God, in his “house with many rooms” will be! How much fun– and so worthy of building a journaling page around.

To create this page in my journal, I did a wash of Tim Holtz Distress Inks– going from darker to lighter colors that matched the Print and Pray (Happy Home) element that I wanted to use.  After that dried, I glued down the house element  — printed on textured cardstock–and stuck down the quote — printed on clear sticker paper. Because the clear sticker wasn’t “blending in” as much as I wanted it to, I did a quick wash of more Distress Ink  and wiped some of it off quickly. While I got the desired effect, it also took off some of the ink of the words, so I traced back over them with a black sharpie pen… but I sort of like the distressed look!  It adds some character!
