Hello lovelies!
I’m so excited to be bringing this tutorial to you all today, as it is one of my most favorite additions to my bible journaling! I like to think of my journaling bible as a reflection of my heart for Jesus. I’ve always enjoyed being “artsy fartsy” but it wasn’t until I was introduced to creating art in my bible that I really began to feel this deep connection between my love of creating and the spiritual gifts that God has given me. To create something with your own hands is one of the most rewarding experiences out there and to do it for the glory of the Father…just makes my heart all mooshy gooshy inside!! I’m always so excited to learn new tips and tricks to bring more texture and color to my pages so without further ado, I bring you my tassel tag tutorial!!

First you will need to collect a few basic supplies that you might already have in your crafting stock pile.
Supplies Needed:
First you need to decide how many colors you’d like to have in your tassel. For these tassels, I used about 6 yards of bakers twin in total so if you’d like to have just one solid color then you’ll need 6 yards of that one color. If you’d like to make a rainbow one with 6 colors when you’d just need 1 yard of each color. If you’d like 2 colors then 3 yards of each and so on. Once you’ve decided how many colors you’d like, cut your 6 yards of bakers twine.
Take all of your strands together and begin to wrap them around your pointer and middle finger. Keep the strings taught but no need to make them super tight, no one wants to loose blood flow while crafting! Be mindful to keep stacking the strings on top of each other and not all spread out across your fingers.
Once you have used up all the string you might find a little extra hanging over but that’s ok, we’ll trim those bits soon. Slowly pull the ring of strings off your 2 fingers and put down. Cut two 6″ pieces of bakers twine. Slip one of the 6″ pieces through the string ring and tie a knot as close to the string ring as possible.
Take the other 6″ string and tie it around the string ring near the top. I like to do a double knot here just to make sure it’s extra secure.
Slide your scissors through the bottom of the string ring and cut.
Now you’ll want to even out the base of the tassel so all the ends are equal length.
This is my favorite part! Pick up those cute little tassels you’ve just made and give them a little shake. They’ll puff right up and look just so darn cute!!
Now it’s time to attach them to your tags!! A simple little knot using the long ends of your tassel will hold them secure and then you can just trim down the excess and boom, you’ve got a sweet little tag ready for journaling!!
Glue that pretty tassel tag into your bible and admire how cute it looks!
I can’t wait to see all the beautiful tassels you guys create!
Hugs and smooches,
Amanda Cabrera
