Merry Christmas Loves!!!
I’m such a kid when it comes to Christmas. I still get all giddy inside as the holiday approaches. I start playing Christmas music the day after Halloween…and let’s be honest…sometimes even before Halloween!! This year I felt a big tug on my heart to truly simplify our usual hectic plans. I just wanted to be able to appreciate the true reasons for this season. To me, Christmas is not just a day, it’s a season in my life. It’s a time to remind those around you how much they mean to you, and of course there are the gifts…but more importantly, it’s a time to reconnect with the story of the birth of our savior. I was gifted the Naptime Diaries advent devotional and I cannot resonate to you all how much it has been completely wrecking me {in the absolute best way} each and every day.
As I read each day, it’s as if the Lord has worked through each of the writers, and delivered the most perfect message into my heart. This year’s NTD advent is about making room in the hustle and bustle of the holiday for Jesus. How can we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, without allowing time for sweet moments spent with Him? I’m not going to lie and say that I have sat down for an hour each day or that I’m not currently days behind, but what I will say is that through it all, my heart returns to small moments of prayer and worship.
Loves, we are not perfect and there have been many missed moments of blessings due to the chaos that naturally occurs around this time of the year. I work at Target, I get it. What is most important is doing our best to carve out time to just sit with the Lord and ponder the magnitude of what Jesus’ birth really means. His birth resulted in the greatest gift that we could ever receive, the gift of salvation. The Lord sent His one and only son, into this world, to not only be born and to work miracles while on Earth…but to experience our struggles and burdens in the flesh and then one day sacrifice himself so that we may be able to have an intimate relationship with Him. I don’t know about you, but there is no gift I’d rather have than the knowledge that my Father reigns in heaven and one day I will run into His arms and be home.
I pray that you know how much you are loved today. I pray that the Holy Spirit would reach out to you and remind you that no matter what you’ve done, or where you’ve been or how far from Him you’ve traveled…you are always welcome. The Lord’s grace is more than we will ever be able to comprehend. Merry Christmas to you and your families. May you be blessed abundantly this holiday season and I will see you all in the new year!!
