Last weekend I spent a morning at my church for a women’s event called “A Morning With Him”. I was highly looking forward to it after a few rough weeks dealing with anxiety and just plain busyness. I really need time to just be alone with God. This is one of my favorite events of the year and I try to never miss it because I need it so much… time to just rest in His presence.
I had people ask me about my bag and what I packed because a few people saw that I sprawled out a bunch of supplies on the table and dove into the devotional. I went in with grace knowing that I wasn’t going to rush through it and try to finish it, but to really spend time illustrating my faith and just listening to Him and what He wanted to reveal to me.
I seriously didn’t get past the first part. It was obvious that God just wanted to say, “COME TO ME” over and over again. For several weeks I was trying to deal with the anxieties on my own and didn’t just come to Him first. It was such a joy to just hang out in scriptures about coming to God and letting the supplies I had with me just come out of me as I just hung out with God.
So, let’s unwrap my bag (a yoga bag from Target, isn’t it cute?) and see what I traveled with for this precious time with God and my art supplies:
- my ESV Single Column Journaling Bible
- my wallet/planner
- and a cosmetic bag full of goodies
Inside the cosmetic page (also from Target and totally cute):
- all the new Illustrated Faith by Bella Blvd stickers
- all the new Illustrated Faith by Bella Blvd Homespun alphabet and number stickers
- the Illustrated Faith by Bella Blvd black ink pad
- the Illustrated Faith by Bella Blvd roller date stamp
- a pouch full of more goodies
Inside the pouch full of more goodies:
- my favorite Faber Castell Big Brush markers
- Illustrated Faith by Bella Blvd precision pens in all three sizes
- Uni-Ball Signo white gel pens
That’s it, and it wasn’t too heavy to carry around the church with me and I even took it with me again the next day to church. Do you have a bag of goodies you use for illustrating your faith? What’s in your bag?

This is a very timely post. I am going to one of the classes in Washington with Shanna Noel and was trying to figure out what to bring. I am so excited that I couldn’t decide. This helps so much and now I will use a make-up bag for my pens and ink and if it fits it can come. Thanks again for the ideas!
Cute bags that hold lots of goodies! I was wondering how everyone carried around their journaling supplies. Thanks for sharing yours!
Oo-ooh! I like your bag and supplies. Very inspiring….thanks for sharing.
Very cute bag! You give me hope that it’s not as overwhelming as it seems to make Bible journaling mobile. :)
