Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Who else has been loving the How He Loves Us devotional written by our friend Stephanie Buice? ME ME ME!!! I swear she’s talking to me right in my kitchen when I’m reading it. I seriously want to highlight it all.

One of the things I struggle with when talking to God is waiting and listening. Who’s with me on that? We live in such a “right now” society. We go to google so quickly to get answers to anything and everything. We even ask Siri on our smartphones. I never take the time to just sit and listen.

I also struggle with listening to His voice rather than my own wants and expectations. Oh lordy, I’m awful about that. I never react very well when God’s answers aren’t my own desiIres. Please tell me I’m not alone in that! Listing all those reactions was brutal and an eye opener, but I’ve also found there are times that I DID trust God like I’ve never done before. Like when I was told it would be a miracle if I ever got pregnant, I just replied back to my Dr. “Well, I believe in miracles!” and after giving it all up to God that miracle happened… but this past year, I’ve asked for an easy stress free year and well, that’s not happened. I’ve asked for a break in all the heartache and pain, but it still keeps pouring and the storms are still coming like a category 5 hurricane. Instead of fighting the storms, I’m having to learn to just stay in the calm middle of the storm and let God be my life preserver. I want so badly to try and fight my way out of the hurricane and struggle to ride it out. It’s not until I truly trust God’s best that I finally can float in the middle while the storm’s all around me. Then He always has some great revelation to share with me that brings me closer in my relationship to Him.

Lord, I pray we really listen to and hide this verse in our heart. First, we call to you, then we truly wait and listen for your voice.
