Who’s been joining us in the I Am Strong devotional by Wilna Furstenberg? I seriously am in tears every single day, this one has been touching the heart strings exactly when and where I need it. It’s been a rough year for me personally and I am just not feeling very strong lately. Today’s reading “Treasure” is no exception. I seriously bawled my eyes out when I starting thinking about the Holy Spirit being a treasure IN me. I really related to being a mighty worrier instead of a mighty warrior. I plan to spend more time being grateful when my thoughts go to worrying.
I’ve been a long time fan of Wilna’s mixed media scrapbooking and what I did to the background of the journaling page and to highlight the parts I wanted to remember in the devotional was something I learned from her. I took the pink, orange and yellow ink pads from the devotional kits and swiped it across the parts I wanted highlighted or colored. It’s a fun way to color your background. I then used a stamp to create the markings on the background. I used one of the cards and some washi tape along three edges to make a little treasure chest pocket. I cut a rectangle from the stamp set backing to create the lid of the treasure chest and used a circle punch to inverse round the edges for the sides of the lid. I then used a black marker to mark the edges. I cut out the paint swatches to put in the chest as well as a background for the title “treasure in me”. Lastly, I took some gesso along the top so that I can do some journaling… at this point I was bawling thinking about what an amazing treasure I have inside of me.
