I had a vision right away for what I wanted to do with the Heart Layers devotional. I knew my entries were going to be loaded with layers and layers and layers of hearts. There’s already a ton of hearts in the kit between the stamp and all the die cuts… but I wanted more LOL. The reason I wanted to do this was because this devotional gets really deep and while it’s good, it’s also really hard… especially to share with others. Layering hearts gives us the opportunity to hide our journaling. I love that I can journal my messy prayer and then cover it up to keep it between me and God. I thought in addition to the heart stamp that’s in the kit, it would be fun to create our own hearts for stamping. There are so many things we could do. We could cut hearts out of foam, or some fun textured items… one of my fave textures is cabinet liner. Another favorite is to grab a cardboard tube and make a heart out of that. You can find tubes in so many different sizes too for so many options for layering. Today, I’m just going to share real quick how I made a heart stamp out of a cardboard tube. It’s super fast and easy and so much fun.
STEP ONE
Flatten your cardboard tube
STEP TWO
invert one of the edges… I also cut the tube down in size to make it easier to handle
STEP THREE
dip in your ink or paint
STEP FOUR
stamp all over your page and have fun
After I let it dry, I then used the kit stamp and stamped all over the page again and finished up with layering the die cut hearts all over the page.
