Hello, friends.
Welcome to my desk!

Today I’m sharing a tutorial for creating a pop-up card using the new kit, Storyteller. My inspiration for this tutorial was based on the cover of Llanet’s beautiful devotional. The desk with a typewriter, Bible, and messy papers could have been a snapshot of my own personal space.

Weekends are when I find some breathing room to sit down at my desk. More often than not, I’m faced with organized piles of chaos from the incomplete tasks I refuse to let go of to the calendar I place strategically in the middle of my desk with color-coded notes and extra reminders. Maybe you’re like me and you’ve found a way to create order in the midst of feeding hungry husbands, putting bills on auto-pay, loads of laundry and toddlers asking for their 17th snack of the day.

Then all of a sudden, plot twist!

Our life is turned upside down. It seems the Author of our faith has written a completely different story than WE had planned. It’s in moments like this I find myself saying, “Umm…Hello, Lord. This is Bekah, I just wanted to make sure you saw the calendar, I’ve already penned in this week’s tasks!”

That’s when I’m reminded that God has had my life planned before He hung the stars in place. I’m sure God is smiling and saying, “Put down the pen and trust me Bekah.”

Psalm 139:16 NIV
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.

How silly of me to assume God would follow my schedule! He is the Author of my days. When He created me He knew I would thrive on list keeping and daily planners. However, that itch to write down and check off all the things has become a crutch because when I hold on to my lists I have to let go of God.

Have you ever found yourself in that place? If so together, let’s say, “Okay God, here’s the eraser. What do YOU want me to do today?”

– Until next time –
Bekah

Bible Journaling Tutorial by Bekah aka Simply Bekah | Pop Up Card | Storyteller Devotional Kit

  1. Take your scrap paper and pick one pattern for the inside and one for the outside. Cut both pieces of paper to 4×8.
  2. Fold the paper you’re using for the inside in half.
  3. Now fold that in half again. Pinch the edge to create a crease.
  4. Draw a small line down the crease. Using your ruler draw a line a quarter inch from that line on both sides.
  5. Cut along those lines one and a half inches up.
  6. Open the card and pop out the little wedge you just made.
  7. Using your adhesive glue the typewriter to the popout.
  8. Take the second piece of paper and glue all around the edge and adhere to the back of your card. Be careful not to get glue in the middle of the paper, you don’t want to glue the popout you just made!
  9. Start decorating!! Grab the rest of your Storyteller ephemera and recreate your desk!

I chose to re-create my desk, I even added my calendar and all the events I have this month!
