making hybrid bookmarks for your Bible Journaling to save a spot you want to illustrate later | Print and Pray Shop | Better Together Collab

Sometimes, a verse will be on my heart, I’m just not ready (or have the time) to create the page I want to create in my Bible around it.  Or sometimes, I need a quick, easy project for my hands to work on while I listen to the  Illustrated Faith podcast or a sermon. I want the project to be God-focused, but not… mentally draining. For those pockets of time, I usually reach for the supplies to put together a bookmark!

I love using homemade bookmarks in my journaling Bible. Sometimes they add a bit more journaling to a page where I just ran out of room; sometimes they add on to a verse or highlight a verse that I covered up… and sometimes they add a special marker to the top of a page I really want to remember and return to.

I love using the products from the Print & Pray Shop to make a lot of my bookmarks—some of them are already pretty perfectly sized to be a bookmark. After I print out the elements on heavy cardstock and trim them out, I just add some washi tape to the bottom and punch a hole at the top with my Crop-o-Dile (or you can use a standard hole punch!). Add some pretty ribbon, and you’re good to go! I used several elements from the Happy Home kit to make super quick bookmarks here.

For the bookmarks where I want to add more thoughts, or highlight a specific verse, I like to use the Library of God cards—they look just like the old library “due date” cards, and have perfect spaces for journaling. As a bonus, the “date” section is PERFECTLY sized for a standard date stamp (I’m obsessed with date stamps right now!) I added the verse I was studying and wanted to highlight (Romans 12:6) in several different colors of Sharpie—And I added a  sticker label to add a little interest as well.  To highlight the verse even more, and to decorate the bottom of the card, I trimmed around elements from the Grow Your Gifts kit, and layered those on top of some washi tape, punched a hole and tied several different colors of ribbon through the top.

These are so addicting and easy to make—I made more than 6 in just a half hour, because I couldn’t stop!  Plus, I love seeing the ribbons poke out of the top of my Bible. It’s like little gifts of scripture to open up and return to again and again.
