One question I get A. LOT. from this community is this: “Elaine, how in the world do you use the digital patterned paper bundles from the Print & Pray Shop in my Bible!?” It’s actually a great question! If you don’t come from a scrapbooking background, you might not have a knack for cutting up papers & layering them on your pages. But there are allllll sorts of ways to use these printable papers that are fun & easy! Check out some examples from my past Bibles:
Create a Margin Corner Mini-Background
This is so simple, it’s CRAZY! I just snip off a corner of the paper & paste it in the corner of my Bible page to create a little mini background. It creates great interest, & an anchor spot for a cluster of elements or a tuck spot for journaling. It’s also a great way to take up a little space & add lots of color if you don’t have a lot of journaling to share!
Make a Backer for Your Page Title
Here I cut out a little square from a digital paper to create a little home for my page title. Such a great idea if you really want your title to pop. For this page, the paper I chose was dark blue with stars, so I chose white sticker alphas to create contrast.
Print Your Patterned Paper on Clear Sticker
Truly, sticker paper is such a popular choice in Bible Journaling right now! By printing a patterned paper on clear sticker sheet, you create a fun transparent background for your margin! I think this technique is the most fun when you choose a paper with a pattern over a white background. This is because the white background will print clear & you can see your page & artwork through it! Super fancy!
Try Some Paper Piecing to Set a Scene!
Paper piecing is so much fun! It takes me back to grade school. :) Sometimes we don’t have the exact embellishments we have in mind. So make your own! Just cut pieces out of papers & layer them to create a shape! For the page above, I used some digital papers to build a little house for my Bible page. Simple shapes: triangle, rectangle, cut-off oval, & a tiny circle for the doorknob!
Add Papers to a Journal for Patterned Pages
This one’s pretty obvious– punch some holes to create a fun patterned paper page for a journal! Many of the patterns our artists create really pack a huge punch! These pages end up a great place to place a special photo, or slap on a text box or tag to write your journaling! Journals are so much fun. :)
Cut out some HEARTS!
Who doesn’t love a thousand hearts on their Bible pages!? Consequently, I think I have at least one on almost every page I make! HA! They make the most ACE layering pieces because love is always relevant, right!? I inked the edges of the heart I cut out above to really give the edges some contrast.
Use Strips for Some Fun Borders
Take a pair of scissors or a simple paper trimmer & cut some little paper strips out of different printable patterns & layer them for some creative borders. I don’t think it gets much easier than that, but it makes your page look really layered & detailed. You can also combine these strips with wash tapes to complete the look.
In conclusion, I hope you got some helpful tips for different ways to use your digital patterned papers from the Print & Pray Shop! You can find all sorts of bundles from our artists RIGHT HERE in the Alphas, Papers, & Washi section of the shop! Happy Paper Play, friends! :)
