Happy Monday, friends! Today I get to share with you how I used Brave Little Taylor’s Print & Pray devotional New Year, New Mercies. I really appreciate the heart (and time!) that Taylor puts into each one of her devotionals and card sets that point us to the awesome God of the Bible.
In this Print & Pray set Taylor teaches us about the Feast of Trumpets described in Numbers 29:1-6 and gives us meaningful practices that echo the Jewish customs that helped ring in their new year. She also points us to Jesus-the One who is the fulfillment of every Old Testament holy day.
When it comes to bible journaling one of my favorite things to do is see how one passage of Scripture connects to another and creatively document that connection. And since the bible tells one unified story, that is a deep well of bible journaling pages just waiting to be painted!
Above is the first page I created in Numbers using Taylor’s set. It’s so fun for this Bible nerd to tie this page in the Old Testament to the entry I did in the New, in 1 Thessalonians, for today’s process video. And then to see how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets, as Taylor reminds us, is amazing.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” -1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NIV)
For time’s sake I chose to keep the two pages very similar looking- you’ll notice I used the same color palette and the very same tools for each page. No need to reinvent the wheel each time you approach your bible journaling time! This also indicates to me that these pages “go” together.
This week I invite you to geek out in the margins of your Bible and rejoice in the Promise Keeper!
