One of my favorite aspects of my home church is the intentionality behind the songs we sing during Sunday services. They are often hymns filled with such rich theology and meaning. The last couple of weeks, we started singing a new song called “We Will Feast in the House of Zion”. The first chorus reads:

We will feast in the house of Zion
We will sing with our hearts restored
He has done great things, we will say together
We will feast and weep no more

When we first started singing the song I was reminded of this passage in Isaiah, where he writes to encourage Israel:

On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. We will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, the for the Lord has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” -Isaiah 25:6-9

I just love that sweet hope and promise for the future! This world can be filled with such heartache, so many trials, and so many weary days of fighting the same sins again and again. But dear friend, we can have so much confidence that someday we will rejoice together in the house of Zion! With our hearts restored, our sins washed clean and our sorrows washed away we will sing forevermore. My heart just gets so excited to think of that glorious day! Be encouraged today that this world and its hurts are just temporary but our eternity is already promised to be so beautiful. Let it cause your heart to rejoice and let it motivate you to share the glorious hope that we have with the hurting world around us!
