While I love doing journal entries in my journaling bible, I also love to think of other ways in which I can express my faith creatively. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to share with you a few ideas for how to illustrate your faith outside of your bibles and since I know that a lot of you haven’t been able to get hold of a journaling bible yet anyway, I’m hoping this will be helpful!

First up is an idea I had to create a journal/album that will just be devoted to praising God. I don’t know about you, but I’m often guilty of forgetting to thank God and tell Him how amazing He is. I sometimes get stuck in a place where I’m just focused on asking Him for things I or others need or ranting to Him and questioning His will when things aren’t going well for me. I want to become better at spending some time regularly just reflecting on the awesomeness of the Lord and letting myself worship and praise Him for all that He is and all that He has done!

Sometimes, putting on a worship album and singing along absolutely allows me to do this but lately, I’ve been feeling like I want to do something more tangible. So I came up with the idea of creating this praise journal/mini album, where I will use my scrapbooking supplies to create things as an act of worship. I truly believe God delights in us when we use our skills and things we love doing in order to praise and glorify Him so I’ve been really excited to get started on this!

When I sat down to create my first entry (with some worship music in the background to get me in the right frame of mind!), I was thinking a lot about grace and just how wonderful Christ’s grace is and how I love Him for that. I knew that I wanted that to be the theme of my page, so I had a look through my Illustrated Faith supplies and found a couple of things that I knew would work well with this theme.

Gathering some patterned papers, die cuts and other embellishments that I like, I decided to create a little pocket page. I added some extra dimension by adhering some elements to the outside of the pockets , while tucking papers inside.

The words of my page are super simple: “Your grace is beautiful and I love you.” But it’s not just the words that I used to praise God with. It was the actual process of putting the whole page together that became my act of worship as I spent time with the Lord, creating something while listening to music and reflecting on how good He is. I can see that this is going to become one of my favourite ways to spend time with God, especially since I’m not the sort of person who can just sit down for an hour and pray in silence! And I think that’s ok. God made me to be creative and, like I said earlier, I think He delights in me when I use my creativity to praise Him.

It looks like a 4×6 with 2″ squares.

Hey, so sorry to only be replying now! It’s 5.25 inches by 7.5 inches. The pockets are 2.25 by 2.5 inches. You can get some similar pages that are 6×8 with 2 inch squares from Studio Calico…they’d be perfect for this!

Spending time with the Lord is so beautiful, but what’s so amazingly beautiful in your moment, is doing it with the spiritual gift He gave you.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Warm regards,

    Tati
