Happy Monday, friends! Jillian here and I am so excited to share my first bible journaling entry using the new devotional kit, Created to Create 2!
For week one we’re starting at the beginning, in Genesis 1:1! “In the beginning God created…”. Later in Genesis 1 we learn that we were created in God’s image.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” -Genesis 1:27, NIV
That phrase “in His own image” in Hebrew means resemblance, a representative figure or likeness. How incredible that we we share in some of our Heavenly Father’s attributes!! And we can be certain that includes His creativity! Shanna reminds us that we are creative too! I love when she says,
“Oh friend, how silly would it be for God to give us all the same artistic ability. That wouldn’t be very creative, would it?”
Each of us is YOU-nique! (See what I did there? ;) Shanna asks us to put down all the “I can’ts” and pick up the “I cans”. I may not be able to hand letter- and that’s ok! I CAN swipe some paint down, stamp some cute paintbrushes and get alpha stickers on the page- and that’s what I’ll have fun doing as I praise God for the gifts He’s given me.
Shanna encourages us to play in our creativity and not worry about the end product. After all, bible journaling isn’t about the end result. It’s about lingering in God’s Word, spending quality time with the Maker of heaven and earth! And the pretty page is just a bonus :)
As we begin to work through this kit together I hope you will embrace your own personal creativity, delighting in the sweet fact that you were created in the image of our Heavenly Father- our ultimate source of inspiration!
