Hello friends! Andrea here to share a bible entry today!
Do you select a word each year? One word to focus on that is supposed to help you accomplish goals or grow in areas of your life? When you choose a word like this, it tends to jump out at you a lot more than ever before, doesn’t it? It’s always on your mind so you pay closer attention, naturally.
My word is STEP. And God likes to present me with my word when I least expect it. As I was looking through my supplies – hunting for bright colors, I opened up the Basics 6×8 paper pad and found little flight ticket patterned paper. I was curious to I began reading several of the referenced verses and came to Galatians 5:22-24:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self-control – so many important things, right? I actually tried to figure out how I could use alpha stickers to list all these words in the margin but I had this gorgeous floral clear cut that I was really excited to use and couldn’t fit everything. So I decided to keep reading further past that verse.
Galatians 5:25 says “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Keeping in step with the Spirit seems to me, to be the only way to really embody all the characteristics of the previous verse. This route seems to be a pretty great idea & I’m definitely staying on this trail.
I knew then that I wanted to just use words and images that helped me visualize stepping, walking, using my feet and growing. I grabbed wordfetti stickers, the Galatians tag and lots of colorful shapes to bring color to this page. My favorite part is the floral clear cut that I loosely fussy cut so that it surrounded the verse I highlighted.
As I thumbed through the clear cuts, I came across the flamingo and just knew I needed to include him. Our favorite images are flocks of beautifully graceful animals, sticking together and handling life on one leg. This colorful guy is an amazing representation of my word and this verse.
I used the Bella Blvd wonky alphas to make KEEP IN STEP as a main focal point as a reminder to not fall behind in my path. My walk as a Christian has been slow, and I don’t always keep up. Maybe you are a slow stepper too. But we are given the map! I know that my steps are leading me toward growth and I can count on God to always be cheering me on to keep going.
Thanks you for hanging with me today! I hope you find ways to keep in step with the Spirit!
See ya next time!
Andrea =)
